Quechua Language Lecturer
* The Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies and the Department 
of Spanish and Portuguese at New York University seek a full-time 
Language Lecturer in Quechua to begin September 1, 2008, pending 
administrative and budgetary approval.  This is a non-tenure track 
appointment, which is renewable on an annual basis.  MA minimum with 
Ph.D. preferred.  Candidates should have experience and have 
demonstrated commitment to Quechua language learning at all levels, 
training in applied linguistics and pedagogical theory, knowledge of 
instructional technologies including internet applications, and 
excellent organizational skills.  Regular duties include three classes 
per semester.  During the first year, Quechua instruction is expected to 
occupy one course per semester, rising to two courses per semester in 
the second year, enrollments permitting.  During year one, additional 
courses in other subjects (such as Spanish language, bilingual 
education, or other subject areas appropriate to the applicant's 
training and skills) or further duties (such as coordination of outreach 
activities) are expected to fill out duties to the equivalent of a 
full-time work load.
